Why
© 2000 by Jennifer Farwell

And it all came back to why.

The rain fell outside in the middle of January
The puddles that showcased the cracks and the dents
The rivers that flowed into disappearance
It should have been snow
It should have been snow.

What did you see in the puddle's reflection?
Could this have been foretold?
Prophecy fail and leave unprepared
For water that raped the ground
It should have been snow.

Let's open the floodgate
The dams have burst and no one's safe
What you know is lost, learn again
But you're both too young
It should have been snow

And it all comes back to why.
