Whichever organization you choose or prefer, just please donate. This is not just a crisis in southern Asia. This is a global tragedy, and regardless of our geographic location, we all need to do what we can to help.
It's that time of year again! I love Christmas. :) Not what it means for the weather mind you, no, not at all. Everyone's favourite game around this time of year is "Tease the Northwestern Ontarian" (this being me), because even the people I've only worked with since April have clued into my feelings on the matter of anything white falling from the sky or temperatures anywhere below the double digits on the plus side of Celsius. Now there's a whole new crew to laugh while they ask, "Wait, aren't you from Thunder Bay?" Yeah, yeah, yeah, like it's almost the banana belt here in O-Town, because if it were, I wouldn't be bemoaning the onset of winter now would I?
Last night we set up and decorated our tree -- Christmas comes to the apartment:
I miss being able to have a real tree. They make your house smell so gorgeous, and there's nothing like a beautiful, real tree all decked out in your home. But maybe, just maybe, by this time next year. :) Seems I have rapidly moved into the major purchases phase of my life, but it's all been well worth it and then some.
So, what's new? I know I'd mentioned something about a poem or two last month; these will come eventually, I promise, I just got a little sidetracked with school and life, and, even better, a short story. That in itself was exciting, because I haven't had anything formulate as a short story since sometime during high school. For the last few years, most things have come in the form of novels, with too wide of scope for a short story. That one I probably will not post here, but I'm thinking of trying to submit it to either short story contests or literary publications, see if anything happens. (If not, time to start collecting rejection slips, heh. :)) I've actually been looking at a short story contest or two, some of them give you prompts and then 24 hours to write and submit. Those could be a lot of fun, and school workload permitting, I might just do them.
School-wise, I am one 20-page paper away from being finished the first term of my M.A. Exciting!
'Tis about all for me at the moment, especially since I had massage therapy after work today so I am currently a chillaxedly mellow puddle of goo. Happy holidays to all!
