I love lazy Sundays. I do have lots to do, but this weekend I took a break so I could read the new Harry Potter and go hang out with some great peeps last night, and this morning and early afternoon is all about sleep, relaxation at home, and comtemplative reflection.
Sitting back and thinking about the last twelve months, it's amazing how many good things it's brought me. Wonderful new people who have become a big part of my life, my very first brand new car, my new home, absolute happiness at my job with the greatest bosses and co-workers you could ever ask for (I have been SO lucky with this over the last four years), grad school, a fantastic trip to Cali and all that was the time spent with someone wonderful there, being wholeheartedly welcomed into people's lives and welcoming them into mine.
I'd like to take this moment to give thanks to the universe and the cosmos for bringing me here, for allowing me to learn all that I have learned and experience all that I have experienced, and for blessing me with such good fortune, with the family and friends and very special people who are such a huge part of my life. I love you all.
July update: Welcoming the return of sleep, and gearing up for a sleepless Harry Potter release night
God bless central air and the comfortable living conditions, actual sleep and facilitation of breathing it allows. Yes, I have in the past, from time to time, griped about the A/C at work, but either the office I re-located to late last fall just has better vent placement, or they've been keeping it under control, because it hasn't been like working in the Arctic or Antarctic display at the Bio-Dome this summer. I keep it just nice at home, and given that we're amidst another humid heat wave again, I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to now have it.
It has been a really busy couple of weeks. Most rooms have been unpacked, although I'm still working on my office. The computers are hooked up and networked, though, so that's the important thing. :) You know, I don't remember moving being that exhausting. I mean yes, I have probably accumulated a good many more things since the last time I moved, but I still had lots of big things (furniture, etc.) delivered. By the end of moving day, though, I was having problems getting down the stairs. And yes, I will admit to lowering myself down the stairs, not walking down them. And considering that nearish these stairs there is an 8 ft. wide window that didn't have curtains on it at the time, well, if anyone saw me doing this, I hope they at least got a chuckle out of it.
I'm very excited that tomorrow night at midnight (okay, Saturday at midnight if we're getting all technical) is the official Harry Potter hour. I've decided to go get it at midnight this time. Two summers ago when Order of the Phoenix came out, I'd pre-ordered it from Chapters for Saturday delivery, and then spent the morning waiting for the mailman. That poor man. He'd been delivering books all morning and probably still had a good chunk of the day left to go. This time, though, the plan is to go get The Half-Blood Prince at midnight and then stay up reading it, and then sleep Saturday late morning and afternoon because I have a friend's get-together to go to Saturday night.
