Juke Kartel at the Australian MTV Awards

Hello, everyone! Get a load of my five favourite Aussie boys kickin' a** and takin' names at the Australian MTV Awards, just a couple of hours ago. Much love to all, and way to rock it guys!

Edit -- May 3, 2007: It looks as though the powers that be have removed the clip from YouTube... oh well! It was rockin'. ;)

The best week ever

A new Michael Ondaatje novel!!!! It's a once-every-seven-years event, my friends, and this is my favourite author. Remember, I did my Master's paper about Anil's Ghost.

I'll just be over here in the corner, reading Divisadero, quite content...

"Where were you when they broke the news..."

Novelist Kurt Vonnegut dies at age 84. Thank you, Mr. Vonnegut, for the brilliance you shared with all of us.

My fellow writer friends, I'm sure you understand the strange sort of reflection I felt upon seeing that headline. Kurt Vonnegut is one of my literary inspirations, probably second only to Michael Ondaatje, although I don't think you can ever really "rank" the works and ideas that have challenged you or caused you to think, analyse and write in new ways you had previously not considered. Seeing the story this morning, I was immediately taken back to the first time I ever picked up 'Breakfast of Champions'... perhaps that will be today's read, in honour of the literary genius we were so fortunate to have among us.
