SPPNTCJ mentioned in psychology textbook

I discovered by accident last night that the SPPNTCJ is mentioned in Psychology and the Challenges of Life: Adjustment in the New Millennium, a psychology textbook by Jeffrey S. Nevid and Spencer A. Rathus. It appears on page 203 of the 2007 hardcover edition, should you happen to be taking a course that uses this textbook. Thanks for the mention -- it's an honor!

We're very happy to announce that the SPPNTCJ and stand-up comedian Jennifer Shenberger have joined forces in the Jennifer cause! If you can catch one of Jennifer's shows, listen for an SPPNTCJ shout-out! In turn, we're proud to support our newest member, who was recently part of the Cleveland Comedy Festival and in 2007 was the youngest comic ever to be named a finalist in the Carnival Comedy Challenge. Jennifer's website is coming soon, but for now, remember to friend her at MySpace.

Bless the Internet (and the WayBack Machine). An old SPPNTCJ members list has been found. For fun and a little nostalgia, the Members page will be updated with this list later on this weekend. There were quite a few supporters!

Because we respect the privacy of all of our visitors and supporters, if your name appears on this list (once updated) and you no longer wish for it to, just drop an email with a request for your name to be removed.

How many Jennifers?

According to the website HowManyOfMe.com, there are 1,421,473 people in the U.S. who are named Jennifer. (Wonder if that includes me? I moved to the U.S. from Canada last year.) There are also 111,339 Jennies; 103,713 Jennys; 35,079 Jenifers; 6,101 Jennis; and 3,050 Jens.

I'd be interested in seeing stats on other countries too, especially Canada — where I can attest growing up alongside MANY Jennifers — Australia, and the United Kingdom.

Hi everyone! The SPPNTCJ store construction is underway. The plan is to have mugs, tshirts and other apparel, mousepads, keychains, stickers, bumper stickers, etc. available very soon.

There will be several different styles to start with, with the phrases:

"secretly a superhero... I have JEN power"

"Jennifers: Millions of people you don't want to mess with"

"Hi, my name is Jennifer. Surprised?"

"Jennifer. Honestly, my parents didn't know."

"Society for Preventing Parents from Naming Their Children Jennifer - Take Action!"

There are only a few items in the store right now, so please check back often! I'll post another announcement when the store is completely ready, which should be in a day or two. Thanks so much for visiting.

The SPPNTCJ is back!

After years of being offline, the SPPNTCJ site has relaunched! Since the site closed back in 2000, people all around the world have continued to search for it on a daily basis. Thank you for this support. By popular demand, we're back and better than ever.

We no longer have the original member listing, so if you'd like to be a member (it's free!) and have your name displayed on the Members page, send us an email with your name. If you have a website or blog, remember to include the link so we can link you from the Member page and Jennifer Links page.

Another great feature we'd like to get started over here at the SPPNTCJ site is Jennifer Stories. They can be short, or they can be long — we'd like to hear all of your Jennifer anecdotes and about your experiences as a Jennifer, as a Jennifer relative, or as someone who knows a Jennifer (or a few).

Remember, to be a member, or to submit a story, you don't need to be named Jennifer!
